About this project
Elucidating the computational principle of the brain and implementing it in artificial intelligence is the greatest frontier in natural and computational sciences. The brain is thought to construct a generative model that expresses the dynamics of external states to enable prediction and action. However, its neuronal basis has yet to be fully understood. This project aims to use state-of-the-art techniques to measure highly accurate, large-scale neuronal activity data from the brains of various animals and to reverse engineer the generative models from the data, for developing a brain theory (or theories) and empirically testing its validity. To this end, researchers in neuroscience, information theory and machine learning are assembled.
